Construction for I-35W Bridge Memorial Underway

Construction is under way on the glass and stone memorial at the site of the I-35W bridge collapse in 2007.

Minneapolis city leaders are planning a news conference Thursday to talk about the memorial and the design.

The Remembrance Garden, as it will be called, will have a plaza with 13 beams, each with a name of one of the 13 killed etched in glass. 

U of M Design Students Imagine Greener Twin Cities in Short Films

University of Minnesota College of Design student perspectives on sustainability will be featured in a student film night as part of the school's "Sustainability Film Series '11."

The short films will be featured in the "Green Screen - A Student Grown Film Night."

Fast-Moving Storm Drops Hail, Funnel Clouds Across Twin Cities

Fast-moving storms have swept across central and eastern Minnesota, dropping golf ball-sized hail and stopping the Minnesota Twins game against Detroit for just over an hour.

The National Weather Service has a report of 2.5-inch hail in St. Louis Park Tuesday evening. Large hail also is reported east of Mille Lacs, west of Elk River and in north Minneapolis.

Tornado Warning Issued, Tornado Spotted Near St. Michael

A tornado warning was issued around 8 p.m. Tuesday for parts of the metro area. Trained spotters have confirmed a tornado about one mile south of St. Michael.

Near record temps and high humidity are stirring up the atmosphere and creating the potential for some strong storms in the central and southern parts of the state as well.
